THE GOLDEN SPOKES FUNDRAISING CHARITY RIDES are held each year and offer a memorable day for all whilst raising much needed funds a great voluntary cause- CASM: Citizens Advocacy South metropolitan, working for,and defending the rights and interests of people with a disability in our community
The carefully selected mix of events give the opportunity for bike riders of all standards to participate in the day on a safe closed road circuit in country surroundings centered around the Champion lakes Regatta Centre, near Kelmscott.
TAKE A CASUAL RIDE with family and friends in the Participation Charity Rides over distances from 10km to 30km
RUB SHOULDERS WITH CHAMPIONS and race in the 80km Open (PREVIOUS ENTRANTS INCLUDE SEVERAL WORLD CHAMPIONS AND INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIVES)
ENTER A TEAM of 4 to 6 people and enter a team's event either 30km or 60 km.
SHARE THE FUN make up your own team from your CLUB,SCHOOL, CORPORATE or SOCIAL group
RIDE IN SAFETY secure in the knowledge that you are on a closed road circuit
INDIVIDUAL TIMING Events from 30km to 80km will have electronic timing with results available online that night, thanks to Southern Districts Cycling Club and Cycling WA’s support
SEE YOUR TIME see if you have beaten your Personal Best
EVENT INFORMATION PAGES Several minor changes are being considered for the events and these pages will be updated over the next couple of months as details are finalised.
ENTER FOR FREE! All you need to do is to raise just $100 in donations ($50 for School Students) for CITIZEN ADVOCACY SOUTH METROPOLITAN (CASM) and we will give you ONE FREE ENTRY into the event of your choice in THE GOLDEN SPOKES.If you wish to participate in this fundraising on behalf of CASM, once you have reached your target, please contact the CASM office on 9356 2814 for information on payment of the donation and Free Event Entry Registration.
IF YOU CAN RIDE A BIKE You can take part in THE GOLDEN SPOKES Participants of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to take part in the event that best suits your ability.Hand Cyclists and Cyclists with a disability are most welcome and should contact Linda or Glenda at CASM on 9356 2814 or by Email to advocacy@casm.org.au if you require help in choosing the event best suited to your requirements.
RAFFLE PRIZES All entrants in the Participation Charity Rides receive Free Entry into the Raffle. YOU MIGHT BE THE LUCKY WINNER OF A GREAT PRIZE.
TEAM'S CHALLENGE Get your Corporate Team,or join with friends,enter the Teams Challenge for the John Walton Memorial Trophy over 60km This will be a timed event with "Bragging Rights"prizes for the top three places for both Teams and Individual riders.There will also be a GREAT RAFFLE PRIZE drawn at presentations with all participants given free entry into the draw
OPEN and SUPPORT RACES This is a Cycling WA sanctioned event with graded categories.Entrants will compete for Prize money in the normal categories in addition to the Golden Spokes Perpetual Trophy to be awarded to the overall winner
PRIZE GIVING Stay around for Presentations and Raffle draws to round off the day at 12.30 pm.
HISTORIC BIKES Check out the WA Historical Cycle Club display including the Penny Farthings,you can even get to ride on some of the old bikes on display.
FOOD and DRINK Drinking Water, Refreshments,coffee and snacks will be on site all day at the Facilities Island
